How to Overcome a Negative Life Perspective

September 10, 2014 By coachsean 6 Comments

Life and success throughout life, really all is about perspective.

I used to not like cold rainy days. They took the energy right out of me. I just want to cuddle up in a blanket, grab a cup of coffee and throw in a movie.  There was a direct correlation to low productivity in myself to lack of sunlight in my day.

I woke up today and you guessed it, it was cloudy and drizzling.  The sun hadn’t even come up yet, but my mind started to wander.  As the sun rose and I could see more shapes taking form outside of my window, a smile grew across my face.  My thoughts were filled with memories.

I realized that my old thought patterns of a warm blanket and a movie changed to thoughts about Ireland. Now, I think about seafood chowder & a Guinness. I think about narrow roads traffic jammed by sheep. I think about new experiences and new friends.

Change Your environment, Change Your Perspective

Last year, around this time, my wife, son & I took a long awaited trip to Ireland.

It was a trip I originally thought about to take with my dad after graduating high school, but life and a well paying summer job got in the way.  The trip came up again as a reward for completing my degree, but again, a great job opportunity changed that decision.  The thought never really surfaced again until after my dad’s health started to turn south and I realized I waited too long.

Sadly, my dad & I never made the trip together, although he was there as my family walked through the sites and enjoyed the experiences of Ireland.  He smiled as my son pointed out the many McCarthy Pubs.

The thoughts of Ireland now charge me up and make me want to go out and take on new adventures; want to meet new people. The cloudy day reminds me not to wait on making my dreams come true.

Your life is changed by new experiences. You gain valuable perspective.

Your life is changed by new experiences. You gain valuable perspective. You learn to be grateful for the things you didn’t appreciate before. So I challenge you to Invest in new experiences! Invest in memories. Invest in a better life changed by new perspectives.

Go out and enjoy the cloudy, rainy day. The sun will shine soon enough.

I’m also writing to let you know of the excellent experience my daughter developed reading your web page. She discovered a lot of details, most notably what it’s like to possess an excellent coaching nature to make most people without problems thoroughly grasp a number of hard to do things. You really did more than our expectations. Thanks for providing the valuable, trusted, informative and in addition fun tips on that topic to Ethel.
